The aim of this micro-credential is to provide learners with an opportunity for
students to get real hands-on experience serving in a café, working with customers
while at the same time learning essential sales techniques and skills. Learners will
gain knowledge and skills of customer service techniques and product promotion.
This programme targets learners currently in high school (Gateway programme),
unemployed, youth/rangatahi (16-19 years), those wishing to change career or re-
enter the workforce, those who have graduated from the Employability Skills and
Work Readiness and/or Retails Skills and Success micro-credentials or those with
disabilities who want to prepare themselves for entering the workforce.
Graduates of this micro-credential will be able to:
• Apply product or service knowledge in a service delivery workplace.
• Apply skills and qualities of a salesperson in a retail or distribution environment.
• Employ customer service techniques to accommodate customer behavioural
styles in a workplace.
• Provide Cafe counter service in a hospitality establishment.
• Provide hospitality sales and service opportunities to customers.
