A Little More Difficult:
Up for a little challenge? There is an endless array of amazing
hikes throughout the Mission Mountains, but if you want to
experience some of the most memorable and breathtaking
views, head toward St. Ignatius for the hike of a lifetime.
Surrounded by Kakashe Mountain (8575 feet), Mountaineer
Peak (9261 feet), and Lowary Peak (9969 feet) the view from
the Mission Creek valley is absolutely breathtaking. The canyon
walls rise so quickly and are so vast that they give off the
illusion of being mountain walls in the Himalayas. (406) 883-2847
The trail to Mission Falls starts at the end of the road and
gradually climbs about fifty feet to Lower Mission Falls. For 319 Main St. | Polson, Montana

may choose to barely break a sweat here, or keep going for the Across from Polson Bay Golf Course
giant Upper Mission Falls, also known as Elizabeth Falls.
Continue on the Mission Falls Trail another 2.5 miles to this
spectacular destination. The entire 3,300 ft climb is mostly Web Pro Polson
exposed, so pack your sun screen and lots of water. It’s
recommended to start early and put aside a full day for
completion.
Directions from St. Ignatius: drive 2 miles east on Mission Dam
Road along side of Mission Reservoir to the trail head.
Note that you will need a conservation license to
hike on tribal land. All of the hikes described above Efficient, Local & Honest
are on tribal land.
