About the MBEIC

All Council Certified MBEs are members of the Minority Business Enterprise
Input Committee (MBEIC). Together we work to provide Board Members and
the Council with constructive and solution-oriented input on issues affecting
minority-owned businesses in our region. In addition, the MBEIC encourages
MBE participation and promotes Council programs and activities.

The MBEIC is organized by specific industry groups, see below. These industry
groups focus on providing key information on their industry and members;
creating new sources of networking opportunities; highlighting growth
opportunities based on emerging trends in their respective industry; and
providing business solutions to its members. Each of the industry groups is
linked to the Council's key strategic imperatives.

There are five (5) key strategic imperatives (SI) and the MBEIC focus
throughout the year is in the following three key areas:

SI 1 – Increase MBE business opportunities

SI 2 – Present Tiered educational program to help build MBE capacity

SI 3 – Help build minority inclusion business champions and advocates

In 2016, we worked together throughout the year to ensure that we kept MBE's
current on industry trends and business opportunities. We have much to
celebrate, but more work to be done in 2017.

We continued existing activities and introduced some amazing new programs,
as well. Activities included an MBE to MBE Mixer, Innovation Showcase, a Joint
meeting with the Supplier Diversity Professionals Working Group, and assisted
the Inclusive Supply Chain Working Group in highlighting new trends, such as
the Internet of Everything (IoE) and Smart/Resilient Cities.
