Anatomical concerns


           •  Beware of the supraorbital foramen and the supraorbital artery. The supraorbital foramen is found above the
             vertical line of the medial limbus and can be felt upon palpation. The supraorbital artery and supraorbital nerve
             extend upwards from the supraorbital foramen. Inject as deep as possible within this area to avoid injury to this
             artery (Figure 3).
           •  The supratrochlear artery runs parallel to the supraorbital artery near the midline of the forehead. Beware of
             this area when injecting. This artery typically is positioned beneath the glabellar line or creases seen with frowning.
           •  Beware of the superficial temporal artery (Figure 3). The anterior branch from this artery runs 1.5 - 2 cm above the
             lateral end of the eyebrow and runs along the lateral area of the forehead. Prior to injection, feel for a pulse to avoid
             hitting the vessels directly.
