With great difficulty the long pending and most awaited work has been completed,
this work is a BREAK THROUGH in water savings and further savings in Revenue to
Railways. There is a level difference of about 5.5 Mtrs to 6.5 Mtrs from the Sheepmandi GLR
to Boiguda GLR. Due to this after stopping the pumping of water the water in pipelines will
flow back into Sheepmandi GLR due to gravity as there were no Non Return valves placed
in the old pipeline. Now, Non Return valves are also provided at two different places to
avoid back flow of water in the pipeline back into GLR, this provision will be reduce the
additional pumping of water of about 1.25 to 2.0 Lakh Litres and reduce the pumping time
and also reduce the load on pumps, resulting in Electricity Power savings.

About 1.5 to 1.5 Lakh Litres of Water will be saved per day towards leakages in old
pipelines. The details of saving in Revenue due to the above work is as follows.

11. Goods Shed Improvement Works
