ENTERTAINMENT, TECHNOLOGY AND ADVERTISING
• Represented Bridgeworks Media Capital and Altus Media in connection with a number of bridge loans and equity investments in a number of pictures including “Urge”, “Kickboxer: Vengeance” (a remake of the Jean Claude Van Damme classic) and “The Other Side of the Wind” a feature film directed by Orson Welles that was never released.
• Represented Focus Features in its acquisition of North American distribution rights from French studio Pathé Pictures for the British drama about women fighting for the right to vote in the early 20th century, “Suffragette”, starring Meryl Streep, Helena Bonham Carter, and Carey Mulligan.
• Represented Act 4 in the option purchase of underlying rights and a co-financing/coproduction agreement with LAMF (Jeffrey Soros’ production company) for a political comedy project entitled “Snake Oil.”
Television
In addition to the movie business, we are privileged to represent a significant number of clients in the television and broadcast industry. Noteworthy deals from 2015 include:
• Represented ESPN in connection with all aspects of the 2015 ESPY Awards held at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. This year’s program was hosted by Joel McHale.
• Represented the XO Group in a deal for a syndicated talk show based on the company’s flagship brands TheKnot.com, TheNest.com, and TheBump.com to be co-produced with Jennifer Garner’s production company.
• Assisted client Alazraki Chiver Entertainment in bringing Alazraki’s new comedy series, “Club de Cuervos”, to Netflix. The success of this project represents a major accomplishment for Alazraki as “Club de Cuervos” is the first Spanish language comedy for Netflix.
• Represented Sonar Entertainment in connection with the development, financing and distribution of several television series including “White Rhino”, “11th Commandment” and “Biblical”.
• Represented Dasym Media in the co–financing/co-production agreement between client and Jackie Chan related to creation/production of a television series based on panda characters developed by Mr. Chan.
• Represented Komixx Entertainment in connection with the development and financing of several television series, many of which are based on best-selling books including “Winter Horses”, “Second River”, “The Fearless” and “The Kissing Booth”.
