Art Law
Our Art Law Practice continues to deliver the highest quality Advice, Representation and Transactions (ART) to the international fine art community. Recent matters include:
• Continue to work on various photography exhibitions presented by the Annenberg Foundation at the Annenberg Space for Photography.
• On behalf of client The Ice Plant, worked to successfully deflect a claim of ownership and copyright infringement of a collection of photographs featuring early images of the Rolling Stones that were found at a flea market and were of unknown origin and photographer.
• Represented a storage and warehouse company in commission of a public art installation piece and subsequent review and approval process by the City of Pasadena, which required that the work complied with local ordinances requiring the installation of public artwork. Helped the client obtain trademark protection for the new company logo.
Our visual arts blog, www.artlawgallery.com, continues to provide news and updates on legal issues facing the art world, and offers timely and thoughtful commentary.
Publishing
• Represented Elizabeth Smart in connection with the paperback release of her book, My Story, which was published by St. Martins Press.
• Represented clinical psychologist Jana Bru, in her agreements with a literary agent and ghostwriter related to Ms. Bru’s memoirs as the friend and confidante of Michael Marin, an investment banker turned convicted arsonist.
