I could never be Aunt Jean's favored nephew or favorite
anything. It had to be difficult for her to know that I was
the result of her husband's infidelity, not to mention her
sister. Not once but twice, and many times in between,
to be sure. Sister Anna was birthing a new bastard son,
me. However, the first son, my brother Dickey, was a
prize and treated as a family treasure. And I must admit
I did as well. I loved my brother Dickey and knew he
loved me. We always said that we wished we were
brothers when departing from each other's company.

thicker than Water," I Heard it a lot from that side of the
family. I always thought it was some secret code.
And indeed, it was.
