8. One last pitch for journaling.
It really is a good idea—and here’s why: Journaling helps you under-
stand God’s will in your life. Journaling helps us listen to the unique ways
God speaks to and leads us.
One benefit of journaling is that it helps you not overlook what
God’s done and is doing in your life. You’ll start to see patterns developing
if you’ll take note of the following:
• Points of obedience
When you sense God asking you to do something, record it in your
journal. Remember God speaks to you through the Bible, sermons, and
even experiences. Capture them all.
• Insights
Whenever you have a spiritual insight while reading the Bible, jot it in
your journal.
• Praise and thanks
When a prayer is answered, record that in your journal. Over time
you’ll see God’s faithfulness and perhaps see a pattern that helps you see
where God’s leading you in service.
Pray together.
How can I pray for you?
Knowing and obeying God’s will is cen-
tral to your life as a follower of Jesus—
and the same is true for your discipler.
Pray for one another, thanking God for his patience, love, and friend-
ship.
Ask him to draw you ever closer to him as you follow Jesus.
And share any concerns you’d like your discipler to lift up in prayer
between now and the next time you two meet.
