Session 1:
A Confident Trust in Jesus
Discipler leads or even reads the following. Feel free to
discuss anytime.
You’re in a relationship with Jesus—and that’s
great. But here’s a question for you: do you actually
trust him?
We all have “sort of” friends in our lives. They’re the people we can
count on—sort of. They say they’ll help us move a couch, but may not
show up. They promise to call, but somehow always forget.
We trust them…sort of.
And then there are the other kind of friends—the ones we’d trust with
our lives.
We’re confident they love us. Confident they want what’s best for us.
Confident they’re telling us the truth and that they mean what they say.
In this session you’ll consider how confident you are Jesus is that
second kind of friend. Whether you trust that he’ll keep his promises. That
he’ll stick with you through your good and bad times, your ups and your
downs.
It’s important that you confidently trust Jesus because that trust
helps you handle the doubt every Jesus-follower feels when life takes a
turn for the worst. And it’s what keeps you faithful when you face mo-
ments of discouragement.
“Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about
what we do not see” (Hebrews 11:1).
The discipler leads and asks the following. The disciple
answers.
A Brief Pause
The next hour is sacred because it’s focused on
Jesus.
