Consider “A” to be the biggest problem you’re currently facing. The
“B” represents the Kingdom of God.
In the first diagram, the “Big Problem” diagram, you’re focusing on
your problem, not the Kingdom. That’s why the problem looms so large. It
consumes your thoughts. You can’t see past the problem.
In the “Big Kingdom” diagram you’ve got the same problem, but it
isn’t your focus. You see the problem for what it is: Something God will
help you deal with.
“Big Problem” Jesus-followers tend to be lonely because they’re
focusing on only their problems. “Big Kingdom” Jesus-followers look past
themselves and experience the joy of giving and receiving support from
other believers.
Decide now to become a Big Kingdom Jesus-follower.
It requires keeping your focus first and foremost on the Kingdom—ex-
actly what Jesus has asked you to do.
6. Avoid burnout and embrace maturity.
Remember discovering earlier that what matters most in the King-
dom is who you are rather than what you do?
One outcome of getting that right is that your life will begin reflecting
God’s values and heart for others. You’ll thrive in God’s Kingdom rather
than wither away. Your close connection to Jesus allows you to “bear
fruit,” like branches connected to a vine are able to bear fruit.
If you’ve been following Jesus awhile, you can get a good idea of how
well you’re balancing being and doing by seeing where you fall on the
chart below:
Do I do good things, Yes Burned Out Mature
like inviting others No Lukewarm Stagnating
into the Kingdom.
No Yes
Am I loving toward God and others.
