Activity When you get dressed and ready tomorrow morning,
Two do tasks with your non-dominant hand. That means
if you’re right-handed, you’ll use your left hand. Or
vice versa.
It’s gonna feel weird.
You’ll fumble. Be awkward. You may end up having to start over when
it’s time to fix your hair, apply makeup, or tie your shoes.
So allow extra time and, as you stumble along, consider how much of
what you do is a matter of habit. It’s become a habit to plop down in front
of a screen to relax at the end of the day. You listen to your favorite mix
tape while exercising because it’s a habit. You’ve fallen into some familiar
patterns, some healthy and some—not so much.
A question for you: If you’re serious about what you’re learning in
these discipleship sessions, you’ll form some habits around prayer, Bible
reading, and connecting with other Christians.
Rather than shoehorn in more activities, how about adding prayer to
one of the activities you already habitually do?
Go on long bike rides or exercise in other ways? That’s a great spot to
add prayer—just don’t close your eyes.
Like to end the day reading for a few minutes in bed? Add a short
passage of Scripture to the mix.
Where can you find a spot for a prayer and Bible reading habit in your
day? Think about that tomorrow morning as you bumble through getting
ready for the day.
Leave this book open where it can remind you to give this a try tomor-
row morning.
And good luck with brushing your teeth.
