Do not say:
Amazon (although, who doesn’t love Amazon??)-- because they’ll think you online shop all day
ESPN -- same thing—are you working or checking scores on last night’s game?
Facebook(statistics say people spend 3 hours a day on Facebook—this is a real worry for
supervisors)
Any website that trumpets your political views
Pinterest (you could get lost in that maze forever…)
Unless you are in a field that relies heavily on social media or other internet-based activity, this
question is a general one similar to ‘What’s your favorite book?’ It’s just trying to uncover a bit more
about you, your personality, and your preferences.
Choose a useful, practical website that contributes to your professional success.This would be the
website you wouldn’t rush to close if your boss walked up to your computer. You could choose:
a specialty website that concentrates in your career arena (like AdAge for media and
advertising news and trends, or Inc. for sales and marketing tips and tricks)
a trend-watcher website that helps you forecast and make marketing decisions
Lifehacker.com for tips and shortcuts to get things done smarter and more efficiently
any mainstream news site
Forbes.com for business and professional development
YouTube or Ted.com for instructional videos
