   Why Choose A.P.?

AP is a rigorous academic program built on the commitment, passion, and hard work of

students and educators from high school and college. The college-level experience benefits
   students in several ways:
   ● Favorably impacts college admissions decisions
   ● Shows you are a serious student
   ● 85% of selective colleges report the student’s AP experience as a positive factor in
   admissions
   ● Offers financial benefits by reducing time spent seeking a degree
   ● Student coming from AP programs are much more likely to graduate from college on time
   ● Builds academic skills and confidence
   ● Learn how to manage your time and study prior to college
   ● Learn flexibility, adaptability, communication, and problem-solving skills
   ● Have the opportunity to explore subjects you find interesting in more depth

   Be Invested

All Advanced Placement courses expect the student to do more which requires students to be
invested in the coursework. Time management skills are essential for success. Students should
weigh their other commitments (work, extracurricular activities, clubs, trips, etc.) against
expectations and consider how much more they are willing to do to be successful.

All AP courses are taught and evaluated at the college level. These courses will require 5-10
hours of study per week and the commitment is for the entire school year. AP Exams will be
administered in May with the opportunity to earn college credit. It is the expectation that if you
take the course, you take the AP exam. The AP course of study is based on a national
   curriculum.

You must staple a completed AP Contract with your registration card to be enrolled in AP
classes. AP Contracts are available in the curriculum office, counseling office and on the MCHS
   Website - Advanced Placement Courses.
