FINE ARTS AP COURSE OFFERINGS
AP ART: STUDIO 3D DESIGN
Description: The submission of a portfolio is required and works should include a body of 3D
artwork including pottery and sculpture. AP Art Studio 3D Design is an advanced art course for
those students who are highly motivated and demonstrate excellence in 3D media. The course
is production based and focuses on creating ceramics and sculptures at a higher conceptual and
technical level. The course engages advanced art students to push their level of three-
dimensional art through various styles and mediums.
Skills for Success: Passion and dedication for creating 3D art is a necessity. Students must have
developing to advanced sculpting skills as well as a strong work ethic.
Academic Suitability: Students must have taken the beginning art courses: Visual Art I/2D and
Visual Art II/3D. Students also must have taken at least one year of Sculpture I.
Out of Class Commitments: This course requires and demands a significant commitment.
Students will spend at least 10 hours a week outside of class working on their art.
Summer Work: Two artworks are due on the first day of school including one concentration
(work based on a concept or theme) and one breadth (work with any medium, subject matter,
or 3D material).
