SUPRISING
ITEMS TO
TOSS IN
YOUR
SHOWBOX
by MommaMills | Mar 7, 2019
The contents of the showbox. Those necessary items one needs for showing livestock. Halters, combs, hair conditioners,
adhesives, exhibitor harnesses and paints. All essential tools for getting the job done.
Is that all a show family needs on show day? Items found solely in the show supply catalog?
NOT. EVEN. CLOSE.
Check out these six useful items that just might come in handy to save you or a family member on show day:
DEODORANT
Gel, solid, or aerosol deodorant. (Fair warning: Aerosol might be best if you are planning to share!) This
emergency deodorant is available for anyone on the show crew who needs it. Perhaps your group is
stationed in a particularly stuffy area of the barn. Maybe the weather forecast is calling for one of those
show days so hot the adhesive won’t even stick. Or maybe the show parents find themselves in the
wonderful, yet nerve-wracking, sweat-inducing position of getting multiple animals and kids ready for
the grand drive. And, of course, there are those show kids who just haven’t accepted the fact that they
can get a bit stinky. For these cases (and more) it’s “show box deodorant” to the rescue! Deodorant is
able to deal with any odor-causing show day situation.
SKIN BARRIER PRODUCTS
Someone is always chaffed. Not the attitude kind of “chaffed“. The real kind. The skin kind. The kind of
chaffed that happens when jeans, hot weather, and hard work all happen at the same time. A kid
swinging his legs wide when he walks like he’s a 75 -year-old former bull rider is a pretty pitiful sight. It’s
hard for a kid to get his mind right for showing when his legs feel like they are walking through fire with
every step he takes. Prevent or cure show day chafe by making sure there is some kind of skin barrier
product in your show box. Whether it’s Body Glide, Butt Paste, or Bag Balm, anti-chafe products are an
important part of any show kid’s show ring success.
