In addition to the sights and sounds, one
could easily sense the special aroma from
the kitchen. For days and even weeks
before Christmas the kitchen was filled with
the sweet smells of homemade cookies,
breads, cakes, and pies.
No smell however, could equal the special
fragrance that came from the big silver pot
filled with red spaghetti sauce. The smell
not only filled the kitchen, but covered the
entire house as well. The sauce was used to
cover the homemade ravioli on Christmas
Eve. Diane would spend hours watching
her mother and father take turns rolling the
dough along the old grey
ironing board. Dozens and
dozens of ravioli filled the
kitchen counters.
