Our Vision

MAKING LIVES BETTER, ONE PERSON AT A TIME

The deep belief that Road to Responsibility has the power to make lives better continues to

this day. Founded in 1988, the primary goal is to provide all individuals with the opportunity
to truly live in society. Through its services, RTR wants to see individuals with developmental,
emotional, and behavioral challenges have full and rewarding lives in the community. RTR
takes pride in the quality of their work. Believing that their services can help enrich and
improve life for everyone. Creating a stable funding source that is available beyond state
funding and regular operating revenue, will allow RTR to provide services that go beyond
necessities, helping adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) to “Thrive”
        and not just “Survive.”

A major gap has been identified that needs to be filled. Much of RTR’s funding comes from
the State of Massachusetts, so when there are financial challenges at the state level, it is
felt acutely at RTR. Most recently, with the dramatic changes in the economy, the state has
struggled to keep funding increases in line with inflation. Creating a funded endowment,
through the EMPOWERING Dreams, IGNITING Possibilities CAMPAIGN, will fill
the gap and provide stability during challenging times. It will also allow RTR the flexibility
to provide additional services and cover the immediate needs of those in its care. Especially

when help from the State for those services can take up to 24 months to obtain.

Following the results of a detailed Pre-Campaign Study conducted by Ruotolo Associates,
which included input from donors, board members, and families, the leadership of RTR
believes now is the time to provide enhanced financial resources for the organization.
The study findings were clear; most participants supported conducting this Endowment
Campaign allowing RTR the ability to provide more opportunities for more people.
