Ballymore Cobh A.C. - Juvenile & Little Athletics Section
East Cork Xcountry Championship in Ballynoe was the first outing for our juveniles after their
summer break. Beautiful weather and a fantastic course to host the event.
A smaller group than normal took part in this even age xcountry and all of our athletes with
the exception of Maggie Sillett were coming up an age in competition. Noah Dorgan U10 and
Ruben Coady U12 accuited themselves really well and did not look out of place in the older
group.
Ava Chandler and Kate Gilroy U12 are both really tough competitors and again put it up to
their older competitors, Ava just missing out on a bronze medal on her return to competition
after a bad injury earlier in the year.
Aine Sheridan ran a superb race U14 and looked like a seasoned professional the way she
stayed calm and cool throughout to finish with a silver medal and still a year to go in this age
group.
Maggie Sillett U16 as always gave her all and battled just behind a strong full youghal team
and will get stronger as the season goes on. She then had to fly off straight after to play a soc-
cer match .
Our newest recruit Alex Buckley U16 on his club debut and has joined us as a result of doing
the junior parkrun in Cobh every Sun morning gave us all a treat. He ran a fabulous controlled
run and finished with a magnificent second place silver medal and had all his family there to
witness it. Again Alex had to come up a year to compete.
Well done to everyone, parents, grandparents, coaches and also the magnificent Ruth Phelan
who once again stuck on the spikes to represent the Adults.
