If the weekly meeting with the homeowner is completed, and the reports are consistently
submitted, many of the frequent emails and phone calls are not necessary. There are always

situations that come up during a home modification project. But with good communication and
documentation, the situations can be resolved so that they don’t turn into problems.

When I started in the industry, my initial thought was that the most challenging thing the carrier
had to deal with was the cost of home modification projects. In reality, it was well down the list.

That being said, it is still a concern and ensuring the cost is reasonable is something that is
considered on every project. In the next and last article in the series, I’ll share a cost containment

formula that if applied, can help ensure the price that is paid for the home modification project is
reasonable.
