The history of the Morey family in
Thomas Morey Domaine Chassagne-Montrachet 2017 $729.00 90WS Chassagne-Montrachet dates
(please inquire for current in-stock burgundy from this producer) back to the middle of the 17th
century. Claude Morey, a native
of Paris l’Hôpital, arrived in the
village in 1643.Thomas and his
wife Sylvie decided to set up their
Vincent Girardin vineyardbrands.com own Domaine together. Thus the

Girardin Chassagne-Montrachet La Romanee V.V. 1er Cru 2017 $1104 94+WA,91BH Vincent Girardin
(please inquire for current in-stock burgundy from this producer) The history of Maison Vincent
Girardin is relatively recent. In
1980, at the age of 19, Vincent
Girardin, the son of a family of
Vincent & Sophie Morey vineyardbrands.com winegrowers based in Santenay
since the 17th century, decided to
(also see puligny-montrachet & santenay) strike out on his own and began
V&S Morey Dmne Chassagne-Montrachet Les Embrazées 1er Cru ‘12 $588.00 producing wine from five acres of
vines that he had inherited from
(please inquire for current in-stock burgundy from this producer) his parents.
SAINT AUBIN, SANTENAY, LES MARANGES
A close neighbour of Montrachet, lying between Chassagne and Puligny, Saint-Aubin is a wine-growing village in the southern
part of the Côte de Beaune, the heartland of the great white Bourgogne wines. The area covered by the appellation Village
includes 30 Premiers Cru Climats.
Santenay, lying at the southern extremity of the Côte de Beaune, is home to both the nymph of water and the god of wine: it is
both a spa and a winegrowing centre. The wines of Santenay and neighbouring Remigny present discernible differences according
to which part of the appellation they hail from. This appellation includes 12 Premiers Crus Climats.
The Maranges area, which grows mainly Pinot Noir plus some Chardonnay, forms a link between the Côte-d’Or and the Saône-et-
Loire. Its vineyards are interlocked with those of neighbouring Santenay, with which it shares some well-thought-of Premiers
Crus. Maranges was granted its own AOC Village in 1988 covering the three villages of Cheilly-lès-Maranges, Dezize-lès-
Maranges and Sampigny-lès-Maranges. It includes 7 Premiers Crus Climats.
Francois Carillon

Francois Carillon vineyardbrands.com site as they did in 1632 in Puligny
-Montrachet, between the church
