< 기진호의 풍선들 >
기진호는 익숙한 사물인 풍선을 활용하여 가벼움과 무게, 순간성과 영속성 같은 상반된 개념을 하나의 캔버스 안에 담아
낸다. ‘풍선 시리즈’는 단순한 시각적 즐거움을 넘어 삶과 존재에 대한 깊은 성찰을 담고 있다.
그의 작품 속 풍선들은 종종 선명한 원색으로 채색되어 캔버스 안에서 부유하는 듯한 형상을 띤다. 이러한 시각적 요소
는 관람자로 하여금 마치 꿈속에 있는 듯한 경험을 하게 만들고, 한편으로는 우리가 살아가면서 마주하는 불확실한 운명
을 떠올리게 한다. 둥글고 매끈한 풍선의 형상은 경쾌한 인상을 주지만, 동시에 언제든 터질 수 있는 연약한 존재이기도
하다. 풍선은 순수함과 희망을 상징하지만, 시간이 지나면서 점차 공기가 빠지고 결국 사라지는 덧없는 존재이기도 하
다. 이러한 대비를 통해 작가는 인간 감정과 삶의 양면성을 상징적으로 표현한다.
기진호가 그리는 풍선들은 우리로 하여금 삶의 순간성과 그 안에 깃든 희망을 동시에 바라보게 하며, 일상의 사소한 것
들 속에 숨겨진 철학적 의미를 다시금 깨닫게 한다.

Jinho Kee uses the familiar motif of balloons to capture contrasting concepts such as lightness and
weight, transience and permanence, all within a single canvas. His “Balloon Series” goes beyond
simple visual pleasure, offering a deep reflection on life and existence.
The balloons in his works are often painted in bright primary colors, taking on forms that seem to
float within the canvas. These visual elements make the viewer feel as if they are in a dream, while
at the same time reminding us of the uncertain fate we face in life. The round and smooth shape of
the balloons gives a cheerful impression, yet they are fragile, capable of bursting at any moment.
Balloons symbolize purity and hope, but they are also ephemeral, slowly deflating and eventually
disappearing over time. Through this contrast, the artist symbolically represents the dual nature of
human emotions and life.
The balloons that the artist paints invite us to contemplate both the fleeting nature of life and the
hope embedded within it, helping us rediscover the philosophical meaning hidden in the trivialities
of everyday life.
