DATE: May 24, 1543 in Poland at age 70
BIOGRAPHY: Nicolas Copernicus was a
Polish clergyman and astronomer who
dedicated his entire life to observing the
data that he collected over the
sky. The
years helped him realize that the Earth
revolved around the Sun, and not the other
way around, as was believed at the time. He
died of a stroke.
