Life and AD&D – Protecting Your Loved Ones
Life and Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) insurance,
through MetLife, provides financial security to you and your family if
you pass away or become seriously injured. Fulltime, active
employees working 30 hours a week are eligible for this benefit on

Basic Life and AD&D Insurance You must choose a

You receive both Basic Life and Basic AD&D insurance equal to 2 times insurance. Please don’t

Disability Coverage – Prepare for the Unexpected
Monthly expenses, such as mortgage payments, food costs, and utilities, continue even if you are injured or
ill and unable to work. If you experience an injury or illness that prevents you from working, disability
coverage provides partial income replacement to assist you financially.
Short-Term Disability (STD)
Short-Term Disability provides you with a portion of income replacement if you are unable to work due to a
non-occupational illness or injury. You are automatically enrolled in CA SDI.
CASDI is funded through employee payroll deductions and provides short-term benefits to eligible workers
who become injured or suffer an illness and cannot perform the duties of their job.

CASDI may pay up to 52 weeks of benefits with a waiting period of seven days. Beginning the 8 day, CASDI
will replace up to 55% of your pre-disability weekly base income earnings. The maximum weekly benefit for
2022 is $1,327 and benefits will be reduced by other sources of disability income (i.e. Social Security, Workers
Compensation). Any benefits paid under this policy will be subject to income tax.
Long-Term Disability (LTD)
Long-Term Disability pays you a portion of your earnings if you cannot work for an extended time due to a
disabling illness or injury. You are automatically enrolled in LTD at no cost to you. Fulltime, active employees
working 30 hours a week are eligible for this benefit on the first of the month following 30 days of
employment.
