Reedley Drama Club members for their April meeting welcomed Marc Johnson, former superin- tendent of the Sanger Uni- fied School District. His 40-plus years in education includes 16 years as a class- room teacher and seven as superintendent/principal for the single-school American Union Elementary district.
Johnson joined Sanger Unified in 1999 as assistant superintendent for human resources, became associ- ate superintendent and then superintendent in October 2003. He retired in 2013. During his tenure, Sanger Unified made a dramatic turnaround. Once designat- ed one of 98 low-performing districts in the state, Sanger

Holidays in May
Immanuel Schools will be closed Monday, May 28, in observance of Memorial Day. The offices also will be closed. School will resume on Tuesday, May 29, on a modi- fied schedule that day and Wednesday, May 30, 9 a.m. to noon. The offices will re- open May 29 for their regu- lar hours, 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Junior High / High School Updates
• On Thursday, May 24,
the IHS Athletic Awards ceremony will be held in the Immanuel South Gym at 6:30 p.m. The event will recognize all sports and standout ath- letes and will unveil the Blue and White Excellence photo.
• Seniors are finishing their finals on May 24.
• Seventh to 11th grade students take their first pe- riod final on May 24. Second
and third period finals will be conducted on Friday, May 25; fourth and fifth period fi- nals will be Tuesday, May 29; and sixth and seventh period finals will be on Wednesday, May 30. The exam schedule is 9 a.m. to noon each day.
• Eighth grade promotion willbeonMay30,7p.m.in the IHS Chapel. The Eighth Grade Tribute Table will be on display in the South Gym, immediately following the promotion ceremony.
• On Thursday, May 31, the Senior Class Breakfast willbeat8a.m.intheIm- manuel Friendship Hall. Graduation rehearsal will be at 10 a.m. at the Reedley Mennonite Brethren Church. The Class of 2018 commence- ment will be at 7 p.m. at the church.
Elementary Updates
This week, our fourth and fifth grade classes did a
pig dissection. What a great hands-on science lesson!
On Thursday, May 24, we will have our annual Tal- ent Show and look forward to our little Eagles showcasing their talents. On Friday, May 25, we will have our Spring Fun Day! All class levels are combined onto different teams, and we have a lively day of competing. Have a great week, and Go Eagles!
