Felipe Escalante Cerna
Felipe Escalante
Cerna of Dinuba died Oct. 13 in Hanford. He was 48.
Mr. Cerna worked as a farm laborer.
He is survived by his wife, Hortencia Cerna, one son, three daugh- ters, one granddaugh- ter, two sisters and six brothers.

Deloris Irene Cooper
Deloris Irene Cooper of Clovis died Oct. 19. She was 83.
Mrs. Cooper worked as a C.O. technician for
Verizon.
She is survived by
three daughters, six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alva "Ray" Cooper.
Services were held Nov. 1 at CrossC- ity Christian Church in Fresno.

The Vietnam Veterans of Ameri- can Chapter #643 in Dinuba is hosting the Veterans Day 2021 event at Smith Mountain Cemetery on Thursday, Nov. 11, at 10 a.m.
The 36th anniversary of the first Avenue of Flags event will feature proclamations from the city of Di- nuba and Tulare County, and a special Veterans Corner address from Justin Bond, U.S. Army veteran.
Bond, a disabled veteran who is tirelessly working on improving the lives of returning military members from Iraq and Afghanistan, will speak on the program called "Our Heroes'
Dreams." The program is designed to help veterans that are broken and need a helping hand.
The Dinuba High School Junior ROTC color guard will post the colors before the event, and the Dinuba High band will march in and perform. In addition, the DHS Madrigals will sing the national anthem.
After Bond's address, the Vietnam Veterans chapter firing team will fire off a 21-gun salute, led by unit com- mander Jacob Huerta. Gary Barsoom, U.S. Army National Guard veteran, will then play "Taps" before the DHS Madrigals join the audience in singing "God Bless America."

Later in the morn- ing, the Sanger Veter- ans Parade returns to downtown Sanger after a year's absence be- cause of the COVID-19 pandemic. Opening ceremonies will be at 10:30 a.m. in front of the grandstand at 7th and O streets, and the parade will commence at 11 a.m. at Academy Avenue and 10th Street.
