The Sanger High Apaches open their County Metro Athletic Conference football season this week with a wave of momentum, buoyed a stirring come- back victory on the road Sept. 23 against the Clo- vis East High Timber- wolves.
Trailing 10-0 at half- time, the Apaches (3-2) got a pair of second half short touchdown runs by Ashton Rodriguez, then preserved the lead with a late interception by Joshua Almaguer pull out a 14-10 victory at La- monica Stadium in Clo-

sixth in seven seasons, to give them a 7-6 lead in the series.
But it didn't come
easy. Sanger needed a defensive stand to re- main within three points early in the fourth, then
drove 59 yards to take the lead with a little more than two minutes left in the game. The big play was a 40-yard pass hookup from quarter- back Isaiah Duarte to
receiver Andrew Lopez. Four plays later, Rodri- guez bulled into the end zone from 4 yards out.

A loss at home to Laney Col- lege on Sept 25 meant that the Reedley College Tiger football team saw its 10-game winning streak come to an end.
Reedley never led as the Ea- gles — a Nor Cal powerhouse in the last decade — returned to Oakland with a 52-27 win.
The 3-1 Tigers will try and start a new winning streak this Saturday afternoon, Oct. 2, at Reedley High School Stadium in a 1 p.m. Homecoming rematch with the San Joaquin Delta Col- lege Mustangs. Reedley defeated the 0-4 Mustangs 27-13 in the sea- son opener on Sept. 4 in Stockton.
The latest Delta loss was a 63- 37 decision Sept. 25 at home to Si- erra College in which they gave up 514 total yards, 295 on the ground. They are one of 13 win- less teams in the state.
Reedley came into the Laney game ranked 10th in the state sports information directors poll and 15th in the JC Athletic Bu-
