Adventist Health will
provide COVID mobile
care units in rural cities

For many community mem- bers, the ability to visit the nearest healthcare facility or pharmacy to receive the CO- VID-19 vaccine or a regular health check-up, isn’t easy due to transportation issues or oth- er barriers. But with Adven- tist Health’s Mobile Care Unit, healthcare providers are mak- ing it convenient to receive the vaccine by hitting the road several times a week to visit rural cities across the Central Valley.
A team, consisting of an Adventist Health Community Well-being director, medical assistant, licensed vocational nurse and provider, are mak- ing stops in Mid Vallley Times region cities Dinuba, Reedley and Orange Cove — along with Selma, Tulare, Avenal, Hanford and Laton — to administer the COVID-19 vaccine and to pro- vide health screenings, such as blood pressure and blood sugar checks. In Tulare County, there were a total of 62,819 confirmed cases (2,687 active, a decrease of 693 for the week) of COVID- 19 with 912 deaths and 161 people hospitalized (28 in ICU) as of Tuesday, Oct. 5. Breakdowns by cities/regions through Oct. 5 show 5,384 total cases in Dinuba, 1,813 in Orosi, 914 in Cutler, 342 in Traver, 89 in the rural area south of Reedley and 38 in the area southeast of Orange Cove.
