The Reedley High Pirates opened North Yosemite League play in dominating fashion, pounding the winless Hoover Pa- triots by a 42-6 score on Oct. 1 in Fresno.
Reedley (5-0, 1-0) was powered by an- other dominating performance from run- ning back Ryan Warkentin, who scored four touchdowns including 173 yards on 14 carries and three scores. In addition, the senior caught three passes for 95 yards and a TD, accounting for 250 of the Pirates' 342 total yards.
Once again, Reedley's defense turned in a solid performance by limiting the Pa- triots (0-5, 0-1) to just one trip to the end zone. It was the second straight game the Pirates have given up just one touchdown, and the team has yielded just 64 points in five games with only Sierra Pacific (Aug. 27) scoring as many as 20 points.
Quarterback Jacob Rocha completed 6 of 17 for 122 yards and the touchdown to Warkentin, and also ran for 20 yards. In addition, Zach Lampa had a rushing TD for the Pirates.
Next up for Reedley is a Friday, Oct. 8, home contest against Fresno High in Homecoming night. The Warriors (2-2, 1-0) don't have a junior varsity team this sea-

The Reedley College foot- ball team will take a 4-1 record into the start of Central Valley Conference play in Sacramen- to against Sacramento City College on Oct. 16.
Last week, the Tigers had to wait out a 200-minute delay because of poor air quality be- fore holding off an improved- but-still winless San Joaquin Delta College squad 21-14 at the Reedley High School Sta- dium on Oct. 2. It was the sec- ond Reedley win over the Mus- tangs this season.
Because of the delay, the RC Homecoming festivities were postponed. The game was scheduled for 1 p.m. but kick- off was delayed until 4:20 p.m. and finished at 7:07 p.m.

Reedley College players (from left) Destin Gainer, Michael Jordan, Kan- don Williams, Gracen Gates and Tempus Fugit gathered together for a photo after the Tigers' 21-14 victory over San Joaquin Delta College on Oct. 2. The start of the game was delayed by poor air quality.
Hartenfels gave credit to the Tiger defense. "They played their butts off," he said of the unit that had six defensive backs who were injured in a loss to Laney College on Sept. 25.
Lazavier Moore led the way with 12 tackles which included seven solo, 2.5 for a loss and Reedley's only sack of the day. Jacob Pearson had seven tack- les and joined Dante Lawson with an interception.
The bye will give a chance for those Tigers to get healthy. Then there was the quar- terback situation. Josh Maga- na did the running and Jordan Solomon did the the passing. ‘It comes down to who is in
rhythm,” said the coach. Solomon passed for 149 yards and ran for 4 yards while

Tiger head coach Rob Hartenfels thought that the delay made a difference in the game. “The boys were ready to go. You could tell that they were a little nervous in the
first quarter. We were flat, being in the locker room for three hours. The AC didn’t work. We were feeding them peanut butter and jelly. The offense started out slow.”
