Dorothy Biswell Taylor
April 21, 1925-April 29, 2020
Dorothy Anne Boulineau was born April 21,1925 in Atlanta, Georgia to Burrel and Laura
Boulineau. A er graduat- ing from high school, she
worked for the Atlanta Journal, and then mar- ried a recent veteran
of World War II, Tren Biswell, Jr., in December 1944. Dorothy, known by
her friends as Dottie, and Tren soon moved to Dinuba
where they raised their three children, David, Stephen, and
Candice.
Always seeking an interesting story,
Dorothy wrote for the Alta Advocate, a small newspaper in Dinuba. One of her fascinating interviews came when Nancy Reagan was in town campaigning for her husband, Ronald Reagan, who was running for governor at the time. However, her main profession was being a realtor. A trailblazer at heart, Dottie became one of the rst women in Dinuba to be a real estate agent and broker.
Dorothy lost Tren to a heart attack in 1972, but found love again and married Harry Rau in 1978. ey enjoyed trips to the California coast and brought along some of the grandchildren on their adventures. Harry died of emphysema in 1985. Dottie deeply loved her family, and continued to spend time with her growing family.
Dottie had a love of travel and adventure, which she shared with her third husband, Henry Taylor, whom she married in 1989. From 1990 to 2004, they volunteered
to lead tours of senior citizens around the valley and across the world. ey traveled to Portugal, New Zealand, Canada, the Panama Canal, and Australia. ese tours were very popular, mainly because Dottie was someone who made you feel you always had someone in your corner and who cared deeply about you. Dottie knew how to ask questions that made you feel that she had a genuine curiosity about your life and truly wanted to know the answer.
Over the past ve years, Glory Days, an assisted living home in Visalia for women with dementia, became home for Dottie. e loving sta all provided amazing care dur- ing her twilight years.
Dottie was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Visalia. Before moving to Visalia, she was a long time member of Dinuba Christian Church. She was known
to her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and many “adopted” family members as Mema. Dottie passed away April 29, 2020. She is survived by her husband, Henry Taylor, her children: sons Dave (Gale) Biswell, Steve (Marilu) Biswell, daughter Candice (Luther) Haas, Dan (Roma) Taylor, Dennis and Leanne Rau Taylor, Cindy (David) Robertson, Lorene Rau, 13 grandchildren, and 44 great grandchildren. In lieu of owers, anyone wish- ing can give a donation in memory of Dorothy Taylor to Christ Lutheran Church of Visalia, 3830 W Tulare Ave, Visalia, CA 93277.
