Emily
“Patricia”
armijo November 4, 1927 ~
June 8, 2021
Emily “Patricia” Armijo peacefully passed away on June 8th, 2021 at her home in Dinuba, CA. Emily spent the latter decades of her life in California with her loving husband, Fred Armijo whom she shared 49 years married and 52 wonderful years with.
Emily was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico on November 4, 1927, to Piedad and Daniel Tafoya. She was the proud great niece of the late Dennis Chavez, Democratic Senator of New Mexico. She and her husband, Fred, were transferred from Albuquerque to Clovis, New Mexico where they lived for 25 years. Emily and her husband were then transferred to California where they ultimately retired and she lived out her life for the last 20+ years. Through the years she loved gathering with family and friends at the Visalia Senior Citizen Center.
She is survived by her husband, Fred Armijo; her son Billy George Otero, her daughter-in-law Marry Francis Otero; her daughter Joanne Otero; her daughter Paddie Eichenberger; her son-in-law Jerry Eichenberger; her granddaughter Renee Otero; her granddaughter Chrystee Armijo; her grandson Isaiah Otero, her great grandchildren Diego Santos, Jono Santos, Julian Santos, Saxon Armijo, and Kastle Sena.
She was predeceased by her mother, Piedad Tafoya; her father, Daniel Tafoya; her two sisters Louise Gonzales and baby Rosie Tafoya; four brothers, Don Tafoya, Tony Tafoya, Bobby Tafoya, and Raymond Tafoya; her grandsons, baby George Otero and Guillermo Otero; and her loving dog, Sijba.
Emily was a family woman who devoted her life to raising her family in the best ways that she could. She was known for being confident and headstrong and she passed those qualities on to her children and grandchildren. She was also a devoted Catholic, who attended church mass on most Sundays up until the point where she could no longer attend due to her declining health. She always found the time to pray her rosary daily for her loved ones and made sure to let her family know that she was watching over them. Emily was a traditionalist and practiced keeping family recipes alive by cooking and baking the food that she grew up with for her own family, who will one day do the same. She always sought opportunities to give what little she had for her family because she put their happiness above her own. Her presence was always treasured and she will be deeply missed by her family as well as those who had the opportunity to know her.
A rosary will be recited at 10:00 AM on
Friday, June 25 followed by a funeral mass at 10:30 AM at
St. Catherine of Siena, located at 356 N. Villa Ave, Dinuba 93618. Reverend Kenneth Bozzo will be officiating.
Services are under the direction of
Dopkins Funeral Chapel.
Lee Lock
January 12, 1944 ~ April 30, 2021
Sandra ‘Sandy’ Lee Lock passed away peacefully in her sleep the
morning of Friday, April 30, 2021, at her home with her
daughter and granddaughter in the room with her. She
was 77 years old.
Sandy is survived by her daughter Cheryl Lock Taylor of Clovis, CA, son
Robert A. Lock of Lakeland, Florida, sister, and brother-
in-law Linda and George Sullivan of Victorville, CA, brother-in-law and sister-in-
law Steven and Pam Lock of Paso Robles, CA, grandchildren Joshua Joseph
Lee of Kingsburg, CA, Danielle Louhrine Lee of Nevada City, CA, Kyle Aaron Lee of Shaver Lake, CA, and Aaron Still Lock of Norfolk, Virginia, and great-grandchildren De- clan Wes Lee and Beckett Hayes Lee of Kingsburg, CA and Landon Eric Lee, Quinn Louhrine Lee, and Teagan Ann Lee of Shaver Lake, CA, along with her bonus great-grandchil- dren, Ryleigh Jane Elizabeth Taylor, Audrey Elaine Kennedy Taylor and Nolan Edward Lee Taylor of Fresno, CA, as well as several cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert ‘Bob’ George Lock (endear- ingly known as Waldo), brother Steven Doman, and parents Betty and Homer Doman.
Sandy was born on January 12, 1944, in Los Angeles, CA. She graduated from George Washington High School in 1961. Sandy married Robert G. Lock in 1962 in Gardena, CA. The two met during a Rainbow Girls event when Sandy was 15 and Bob was 20; it was love at first sight. During their early days of courtship, Bob would fly over Sandy’s house in his airplane and tip the wings back and forth, sometimes even momentarily cutting off the plane’s engine to Sandy’s dismay. The day before their wedding, Sandy and her childhood best friend, Bernita ‘Sue’ Robinson Kramer, went horseback riding to celebrate the occasion, leaving Sandy with a sore bottom for her wedding the next day. Bob and Sandy welcomed their daughter Cheryl Lock Taylor in 1963 and their son Robert A. Lock in 1966.
Sandy and Bob moved to Reedley, CA in 1967 with their children, Cheryl and Rob. They designed and built a home on South Avenue, where they lived until they relocated
to Florida in 2001 to pursue their dream of barnstorm- ing. Sandy remained in Florida until 2018, after which she returned to California to be with her daughter, son-in-law, Edward (Ted) Taylor, and family.
Sandy was one of the first female business owners in Reed- ley, CA, operating the Montgomery Wards on G Street until she retired in 1985 and later worked in the Reedley College Bookstore for several years. Upon moving to Florida, she operated a barnstorming business with her husband and son.
Sandy was obsessed with chocolate and espresso beverages. She had a knack for interior design, with an incredible eye for detail and color coordination. She loved her birds and her Pomeranians. Sandy was particularly fond of her time with family and friends, drinking ‘Lock’ margaritas, hosting backyard bocce ball and BBQ parties, and late-night fon- due dinners in the garage she converted into a parlor. She enjoyed vacationing, traveling, and seeing the world. A few of her favorite destinations were Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, Celebration, Florida, Venice, Italy, and Nova Scotia, Canada.
No memorial service or funeral is planned. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation.

CARROLL STRADER
August 26, 1922 ~ June 1, 2021
Carroll was a devout Christian and loved the Lord with his whole heart.
He was born and raised in Creston, Iowa with his parents, Harlan and Badie Strader, and his four sisters; Viola, Harlena, Esther and Betty.
He graduated from Creston High School In 1941 and joined the U.S. Navy the same year. On May 16, 1942, he married his high school sweetheart, Geraldine (Gerry) Schrodt, of Cromwell, Iowa. Carroll spent his first Navy year stateside, before being sent overseas. He left one week after marrying Gerry, and spent the next two and one half years as Plane Captain on a Douglas SPD Dauntless Dive Bomber with Fleet Airwing 2, Pacific Theater; earning the Pacific Theater Battle Star. At the same time, Gerry served with the FBI in Washington D.C. and Carroll rejoined her at the end of the war after his discharge from service at Jacksonville, Florida.
Carroll was taught to cut meat in Iowa where they began raising their young family and in the early 1950’s they moved to California. Carroll found work as a meat manager with the Justesen Grocery Store Chain and later the Food Bank Grocery chain and helped open new stores in Wasco, Shafter, Sanger and finally Reedley where they permanently settled in 1958. When Food Bank went out of business, Carroll and his friend, Ted Farnesi, partnered in buying the old Food Bank business in Dinuba, calling it Shop and Save Grocery. They ran that store together for the next 7 years. Carroll was still not ready for retirement when they closed Shop and Save; and he then took a job with New Holland Manufacturing and worked there for the next ten years.
After retirement, Carroll and Gerry spent so many happy years travelling the U.S. in their 5th wheel and spending winter months in Arizona with the many friends they made during their travels.
In 2008, they returned to Reedley and took up residence at Sierra View Homes where they have lived until the present.
Carroll was preceeded in death by his parents; his 4 sisters; his youngest daughter Deby Kirby; his son-in-law, Russell Durham, and his oldest grandson, Brian Durham.
He is survived by his wife, Geraldine; his daughters, Karen Durham and Diana Gaither (Chuck); his son, Drake Strader (Terri); 11 grandchildren
and 15 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Our family wants to thank all of the wonderful people at Sierra View Homes for the loving care they
have given to both Carroll and
Gerry these many years. We are so grateful to you all.
