A Reedley family is mourning the loss of their stepfather from a car accident on Highway 180 northwest of Sanger earlier this month.
Yair Teyssier, 28, was severely injured in the crash on 180 and McCall Avenue on the evening of June 10. He later died from his in- juries. The portion of the express- way between Fowler and Acade- my avenues has been the scene of multiple accidents the past couple of years, including fatal crashes.
“He was coming home that day, he had a job in Madera, he was at his stop at McCall and a car came up behind him and crushed him. The back of the car is completely destroyed,” said Brisa Nunez, Te- yssier’s stepdaughter.
“The cop came to notify us at around 9 p.m. that evening to let us know he’d been in an accident.”
The California Highway Patrol received calls of a two-vehicle crash sometime around 7 p.m.
Nunez said her stepfather was rushed from the scene with major injuries and after a few days on a ventilator, died from his injuries.
“My mom was really really close to him, they were closer than anyone and anything. She’s been really sad and broken that this happened,” she said. “My mom had a dream about him, telling her not to cry because every time she cried he couldn’t get to where he was going.”
Nunez said Teyssier was a fun guy with an easygoing personality. “I just graduated from high
