Chairman’s Report – Councillor Craig Wheeler
I would like to thank you all for
coming along to our Jamboree
in the Park. The sponsorship
from Anglian Water and National
Lottery helped make our event
fantastic and encouraged
residents of our town to come
out and enjoy the festivities.
Thanks also to Crazy 4 Kids who provided free children’s activities
and Thrapston Farm & Garden
who helped with a generator on
the day. We raised over £250 for
my Mayor’s Charity Dementia UK – thank you!
I had the pleasure during September to attend Wendy Brackenbury’s
Civic Service, Chairman of East Northamptonshire Council, who is also a District Councillor for Thrapston, and also the Mayor of Rushden David Coleman’s Civic Service. Both of these events were a pleasure to attend and it was great to hear about the good work local Councils are doing in our area.
With summer now firmly behind us and
the colder months setting in it’s time to start looking forward to our next big event in the town.
We have the Annual Firework Display on Monday 5th Nov at Castle Playing Fields starting
at 7pm. If last year’s display
is anything to go by then we should all be in for a lovely evening! Please remember we put the display on free of charge for residents of Thrapston and neighbouring villages/towns.
Cllr Craig Wheeler
There will be a charity bucket collection to raise money for good causes. Please donate what you can and support a charity whilst you enjoy your evening.
Our next event following the fireworks we be the Annual Christmas Festival. This year our festival takes place on Saturday 24th November - more details about this will follow in the next edition of Jigsaw. The festival is a great chance to get together with family and friends to watch the lighting of the Christmas tree and welcome in the festive season.
Pantomime
There’s nothing like a bit of panto to bring people of all ages together for some jolly good festive fun. We have arranged for the ‘Laugh Out Loud’ Theatre Company to put on two pantomime shows of ‘Aladdin’ at Thrapston Plaza. Both shows will
be on Saturday 8th December, with a matinee at 2pm and an evening show
at 7:30pm. Tickets will go on sale on Monday 5th November and will be available to buy from
the Town Council office. We would like as
many people as possible to come along
and enjoy the show so the ticket price will be subsidised by the Mayor’s fund. Adults and children will both be £5 per ticket, with under 2s free of charge.
