Newly-commissioned officers and their guests enjoy their Commissioning Ball
at 5220, with 709 Officer Cadets, Serving Offic- ers and Retired Officers signing up during the year.
The Trust has continued to run the Commission- ing Balls. Catering for up to 1,500 people, the event features a giant marquee on New College square with live music, sideshows and catering. One of the Army’s contemporary music groups plays at each event, not only providing superb music but showcasing the talents of Army musi- cians to a new generation of young Officers.
Our website is also growing, and the leadership and current affairs library now has over 190 arti- cles ranging from how to spot toxic leaders to the ramifications of the Huawei 5G contract.
Reunions continue to be popular, with 40 run in 2019. These ranged from 10-year to 70-year

events with the majority of members choosing to obtain a copy of their Sandhurst report. Most of these were written in the days when Cadets did not see their reports and it was not unusual to have such gems as ‘The lights are on but nobody is home’. To save potential blushes – copied reports are handed over in sealed envelopes!
There has also been an increase in all-female reunions, from the days when the women were grouped in Platoons, a policy that seems very dated in today’s culture of integrated training.
One significant reunion commemorated 70 years since the commissioning of intakes 3 and 4. Usu-
