10 Out Of 10 For Belper Detachment!
Congratulations are in order for the staff and cadets at Belper Detachment, C Company. Their annual inspection was held on Monday 30th April with Captain Dawson
as their inspecting officer: 48 cadets were on parade along with all three detachment staff.
This year celebrates the 10th year in a row that the detachment has received an “Above Standard” grading.
Other achievements throughout the night included ten promotions to L/Cpl; ten Basic Training Certificates were issued and one 2 Star Badge and Certificate was awarded.
Pictures include the ten new L/Cpls; Belper Detachment with their staff and below finally the detachment on parade with L/Cpl Maynard as duty NCO.
Well done to 2Lt Moody, Sgt Harper and PI Moody for their hard work and efforts for the detachment over the last year.
  Shooting Stars!
This year has been one of great successes for two C Company cadets – Cpl Clarke of Heanor Detachment has maintained and furthered her success in the shooting world and L/Cpl Haggerty of Ilkeston Detachment, the newbie to the county shooting team, has managed to secure herself a seven week trip to Canada!
 Cooking Up A Storm!
Monday 23rd July saw L/Cpl Jack Tymon of Belper Detachment, C Company travel to Winchester to start his cadet cookery course. On returning L/Cpl Tymon wrote:
“The course was at Worthy Down Barracks in Winchester and that is the main barracks for the food services wing for all three armed services. The course was four days long with three cooking days and a presentation day.
We learned lots of things, from food safety to knife skills and it was very enjoyable. My teacher was chef Pemba Lama who was a Gurkha in the Army for 30 years.
On the course were 23 cadets, mainly NCOs, from all over the UK from Scotland
to Dorset. The best part of the course was being given the award for the cadet with most potential by the chief officer at Worthy Down. The course overall was very good and I would definitely recommend it to other cadets. “
The course is run at the Defence Food Services School (DFSS) at Worthy Down Barracks in Winchester every year and
is open to all cadets. It is designed to give cadets from across the country an insight into Army life in general, but more importantly, life as an Army Chef.
A Sporting Success
Congratulations are again in order for a
C Company cadet after winning this year’s outstanding sports cadet trophy. L/Cpl Lee of Ilkeston Detachment is pictured below with his trophy.
