Thrapston Plaza Refurbishment
Thrapston Plaza is to be given a make- over ... well, more than a make-over! Plans are now well underway for the complete refurbishment of Thrapston Plaza following the Council’s success in obtaining a grant from WREN. WREN
is a not-for-profit business that awards grants for community, biodiversity and heritage projects from funds donated
by FCC Environment through the
Landfill Communities Fund and Scottish Landfill Communities Fund. WREN was established in 1997 and since then has provided over £200m to more than 7,000 community and environmental projects throughout the UK.
The main works will be carried out during January 2019 with a complete
upgrade of the heating system. It
is planned that climate control (air conditioning) will be installed in the
main hall, entrance lobby and upstairs boardroom, with an upgraded heating system in the toilets. The climate control system will not only be eco-friendlier, but it will also be much more energy efficient, giving the Council a significant saving on fuel costs over the years ahead. We also plan to have new flooring installed in the main hall, entrance lobby and upstairs boardroom.
For these works to be undertaken the Council will be closing the Plaza during the month of January 2019. We apologise for any inconvenience that this may cause but hope you will bear with us whilst we carry out these much-needed works.
Further planned works will include a complete refurbishment of the upstairs toilets, new and upgraded lighting
and audio system together with other necessary electrical works, a new ceiling in the boardroom – all of which will take place before a complete redecoration of the building. These other works will be scheduled to cause as little disruption as possible to our users. We hope you will all bear with us during this period
of refurbishment, but if you have any concerns please do speak to us.
