Cupar Flower Show 2022
The Cupar & District Flower and Horticultural Society is an NVS member and this year they will be holding their flower show again after a 2 year “covid break”.
This year’s show will be held on Saturday 20th August at the Corn Exchange in Cupar and is a special occasion as their President, Les Wheelans, will be celebrating 50 years of service to the show, which is a testament to his dedication.
Les reflected; I have watched the Cupar Flower Show grow and flourish since I first exhibited my own flowers and vegetables back in 1972 and have enjoyed being part
of the organising committee as well as an exhibitor for over 50 years. It’s hoped that our seasoned exhibitors in the floral, fruit and vegetable categories will once again join me in putting on a good show. If the Coronavirus pandemic has had any positive impact on society, it has allowed people who have not previously had the time or inclination to enjoy and appreciate their gardens to benefit from the therapeutic influences of gardening and improve mental wellbeing to both young and old. We need to keep that newfound enthusiasm going, so please do encourage any family or friends to participate, even if it is from a distance.
If you are new to growing or have never entered a flower show before, don’t worry... we are here to help you every step of the way. We have a NOVICE Section specially geared toward this group; but you can also enter any of the open classes should you
wish! It’s not only outdoor categories that we cater for; we also have classes for home baking, wine, floral art and photography, and a number of classes for the children too. This friendly, local show is for amateurs, so give it a go.
Cupar Flower Show’s charity of the year is Age Concern Cupar. This voluntary organisation provides vital support to
the elderly and less able in Cupar and
the surrounding areas in the form of day
care, advice and life admin support as well as offering respite to families and carers. Please help them provide this great organisation with a little more funding
to support our community. Details of the Show and other events can be found in the events section of the NVS website which includes a PDF copy of the show schedule and entry form which you can download plus a link to the Cupar flower show web site www.cuparflowershow.co.uk
