retained the Reserve trophy and finished 6 out of around 12 Regimental teams.
Scores and medals are brilliant, they provide an immediate sense of achieve- ment and fulfilment for those who train and put it on the line to race hard. However, they don’t sum up collective and shared experience. As well as the physical and conceptual development, there are eight personnel in 103 Regt RA who now know seven other people of all ranks across the Regiment. So what? That’s seven new people to lift the phone to, in order to solve problems, familiar faces in tough situa- tions and key points of contact in planning inter-Bty or Regimental
training. You cannot
quantify that value as a
bottom line on a spread-
sheet because it’s people
based. I am Reservist,
Troop Commander in
103 Regt RA and a TV
cameraman in my civilian
job. I am well-travelled; this
trip was unlike anything
I have done before. I
highly recommend and
encourage it (and partic-
ipation in army sport
generally) and I hope that
others will benefit from it in
the way we have this year. Our significant thanks go out to the following organisa- tions RFCA NW/EM/WM, HQNW, RAOA, RACPD, BVA and the Regiment who all assisted the trip financially and with the mechanics involved in the planning.
The overall position for the Regiment was that we retained the Reserve trophy and finished 6 out of around 12 Regimental teams
