Ruth Stevens from Sussex Conservation Con- sortium advised me on treating various bound manuscripts and a folio of 90 pencil landscape drawings by cadets. See picture for results.
Two collection paintings have been conserved; i) Lady Coote from the Lord Room has been sent away for re-lining and re-attaching paint akes, and ii) a portrait damaged by water over owing from a blocked gutter.
Tours
Among the many tours that Collection staff have provided for Group HQ, the Curator, Dr Anthony Morton, toured the Afghan President, Moham- mad Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai and notable over- seas generals: Lt Gen Gokarn (Indian Army) and Lt Gen Ben Hodges (US Army). Anthony also supported the Academy’s outreach
and the Cadet Stick Canes. The latter is for the forthcoming Sandhurst Room of Honour, which focuses on achievements of past cadets and helps foster a sense of esprit-de-corps.
Material has also been provided for smaller dis- plays such as historic Images for the new Slim Company Lines and objects for the Group HQ foyer.
Research Visits
Apart from many visits by students and family history researchers, there were notable visits to the archive by, for example, Sarah Stockwell (Professor of Imperial & Commonwealth His- tory at KCL) who has been studying the place of Sandhurst in the de-colonisation era of the 1960s. Also, Dr Helen Parr had been research-
to Leicester Islamic Community Leaders and the Sikh Community.
We also provided the usual tours for the PCCBC, LEOC and ANAOA etc.

ing training manuals and doctrine from the 1960s-1980s, Dr Olivier Bruneau (University of Lorraine) investigating mathematical teaching of the RMA in the 18th Century and Dr Graham Winton researching cadet Basil Carver 1914-1918. Assistance was afforded to a Japanese TV Crew lming about Churchill.
The Collection received a request
for pictures for the General Staff
Course at Robertson House and I was able to nd some particularly pertinent works in the Col- lection such as a signed farewell dinner menu for Gen Robertson himself.
I gratefully acknowledge the help of the QM’s Carpenter Dave Soane for the help in providing display cases for the General Scovell swords
