owned a luxury hotel in the valley and had befriended Charlie and his family when they visited the coast a while ago.
Their younger sisters, Isla and Chloe stayed at home with their Grandma Tilly. During those times they learned to sew, to cook and be creative. Their grandma had loads of patience and never tired of keeping the young animals occupied. Tilly’s new home was outside the little garden gate that had been built by Charlie and his friends. It was hidden at the base of a tall wooden fence post and by the front door, there was a small vegetable garden. Here, the young rabbits had planted lettuce and carrot seeds and eagerly watched their progress.
Every day, they watered the seedlings and pulled out weeds. Tilly would say, ‘A watched pot never boils.’ She meant to say that seeds don’t grow any quicker by cosseting them.
‘You will have to water them, Grandma, when we are at school. You won’t forget now?’ Isla would remind her, over and over again.
Today, the girls were visiting Rowley Weasel, who was an old friend of Tilly’s. He and Tilly had once shared a home together at Mill cottage.
After their mum had died, Isla and Chloe had lived there and enjoyed playing in the garden. Rowley had built two swings and a slide for the girls. His neighbour, Cyril Rat had since added two go-karts and today, the girls were in for a big surprise.
‘How are you today, Uncle Rowley?’ asked Chloe.
