Midland Branch Championships
Championships Results 2021
At the beginning of 2021, when all
the early shows were being cancelled it didn’t look very promising that
we would be holding our Branch Championships, but then I received an email from Malvern to say they were going ahead with the Autumn Show and would we be interested
in having our championships with them. It was after much deliberation the committee decided that we would and in doing so, continue to support the Malvern Show. So, schedules were sent out and preparations started.
With COVID in mind, we were aware that exhibitor numbers would be lower than usual however it all went very well and without a hitch. Thank you to the judges, who had waited a long time to judge this show and the stewards, many of whom it was their first time, for doing a sterling job.
We had a total of 43 exhibitors who staged 247 exhibits which equates
to 5.7 exhibits per exhibitor. Not disappointing bearing in mind, the past 18 months of uncertainty and we were delighted to have so many visitors from far afield including our friends from the Scottish Branch.
The Midlands Branch also put up a display promoting the NVS alongside other plant Societies. With the 2021 Show being spread over three days, the committee found itself a little short of manpower to man the stand, so I want to say a big thank you to all those NVS members who are always willing to help out and spent time on the stand talking and engaging with the public, it is very much appreciated, you know who you are. We gained several new members, so welcome to you all.
Over the course of the three days, we got to know the staff from DT Brown, one of our key partners, as their sales stand was next to ours. What a great fun team and extremely hard working.
Overall, the whole weekend was
a great success for Malvern and the NVS. Everyone enjoyed meeting up again and having a good time which is what it’s all about.
