 E Squadron
Dyfed and Glamorgan Army Cadet Force
As 2022 draws to an end I reflect back on what has been achieved by both CFAVs (Cadet Force Adult Volunteers) and Cadets alike – its been nothing short of amazing and an event-
National Park, Narberth Civic Week Fair, Wings Over Carew, Kidwelly Carnival, Armed Forces Day, World Coastal Rowing Championship support at Saun-
dersfoot, Annual Camp 2022 at Sennybridge with fantastic support from the QDG CET (Cadet Engage- ment Team) and a visit from the Farrier Major with L/ Cpl Jones the Regimental Mascot, Poppy Selling at a plethora of locations and of course the Acts Of Remembrance themselves all over Pembrokeshire, FTX weekends (Fieldcraft Training Exercises) at Senny- bridge and Templeton, and many more that kept both CFAVs and Cadets on our toes and busy like no other year I have ever seen in my time in the ACF!
In addition to all the above we had events where our dedicated and loyal CFAVs completed required courses,
governance, and refresher training, and at long last the lions share of these have been physical rather than on the world of Zoom as per 2021! Promotions of both Cadets and CFAVs, the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Medal has been presented as well as commissions but unfortunately far too many to individually list!
Our final event this year was a bitter- sweet weekend being ‘Exercise Merrion Christmas’ based out of Castlemartin Camp where we had E (QDG) Squadron training alongside with G (Royal Welsh) Company which culminated with the farewell of our OC, Major Jeff Protheroe, as he has now completed his 4 years with ourselves and moves on to pastures new with B Company in the Neath area – good luck! You will be sorely missed!
Can I take this opportunity to thank the CFAVs, Cadets, Parents and Guard- ians as well as 1st The Queen’s Dragoon Guards for your brilliant assistance and efforts in ensuring these events are successful. Without all your help, none of this would happen!
MM
