                                   3rd Reconnaisance Guard Hussars Regiment
3rd Reconnaisance Battalion of the Guard Hussars Regiment currently consists of three squadrons and we are based in the small town of Rønne on the island of Bornholm in the Baltic Sea.
The battalion’s primary tasks are to provide a light reconnaissance squadron (1st Squadron) to the Army’s Intelligence- Surveillance and Reconnaissance Battalion under 1st Danish Armoured Brigade, and to train and provide recon- naissance troops (2nd Squadron) for the three battalion battlegroups formed
by the Royal Life Guards, The Jutland Dragoons Regiment and our own Guard Hussars Regiment. Last but not least, train recruits and soldiers (4th Squadron (The Marine Squadron)) to provide a steady supply of quality personnel to the two regular squadrons.
2023 was a good year for the battalion with plenty of meaningful tasks and chal- lenges and 2024 promises to be just as busy if not more. Indeed 2024 started with the abdication of Her Majesty Queen Margrethe II. Incidentally, the
Queen’s successor King Frederik X was a troop commander in 5th squadron of the Reconnaissance Battalion during his mandatory military service in the late 1980’s.
We wish all the best for Her Majesty and King Frederik X.
2023 was the also the year when we were reintroduced to the Queen’s Dragoon Guards as QDG Regimental 2iC Major Ben Matthews joined us during our “Patrols Week” in late November. The Patrols Week is the last major battalion
