Cara smiled to herself. ‘To think my mum and dad have been racking their brains for weeks trying to find the boy. You come along, Grandma, and manage to locate his blinking mother within hours.’
‘But I had a lot of help from friends, and with their help, we may be able to locate the boy too. We know where he’s been seen so all we have to do is to spot him leaving the centre and follow him. Simples!’ said Alice with a satisfied grin.
‘Tell me more,’ begged Sophie. ‘I don’t know where he’s been seen.’
‘Cara’s mum and dad drove past him on Heath Road and he was spotted outside their house and in the park. He was heading into the town or harbour. The police have spotted him on CCTV cameras, ducking and diving around the town centre.’
‘What if we did find him?’ suggested Elise. ‘He could be living with other people who might be dangerous. Cara thinks he’s a beggar that hangs around with a crowd at the market. You know some of those people, don’t you, Grandma?’
‘I know a lot of people, especially female stallholders. Good idea, Elise. I’ll have a chat with the lady who sells the scarves. She might have seen him.’
‘We have to go, Grandma, it’s getting late,’ said Cara. ‘Can you drive us home, please?’
