B COMPANY
In the last two years B Company
have enjoyed a variety of tasks and challenges including a deployment
on Op TANGHAM, a joint RANGER / Kenyan SF Ex CAMBRIAN PATROL gold and operational surges.
On formation day, a heavy contingent from B Coy had just wrapped up the inaugural Ranger Course in Otterburn, as both staff and Ranger candidates. The following eight months were spent building the Coy ready for our summative pre- operational assessments. Ex APOLLO SABRE and Ex GREY SHARD proved to be great successes, a testament to the training delivered to us prior by both the Coy and the Battalion.
August saw 26 members of B Coy deploy to Somalia on Op TANGHAM, where they took over training from
F Coy in the Somali Training and Advisory Team (STAT). The highlights of this tour include the culmination of Company Collective Training, with 2 RANGER at the forefront of the delivery for fifteen 8-week courses, the final course being for 300 SNA soldiers. A huge operational output, with CSgt Leader being awarded a Joint Commanders Commendation for his work as Chief Instructor. Concurrently we provided two Liaison Officers to East Africa, piloting a
Ranger task to great effect which has remained with B Coy during our Ops 2 phase.
We then switched fire from Africa to tasks closer to home, deploying instructors on Op INTERFLEX to
both Salisbury plain and Thetford, delivering vital training to our Ukrainian partners. Utilising skills honed both on operations and in our training cycle, our troops excelled. We also fielded the first joint Ranger and Kenyan Special Forces Cambrian Patrol Team, which delivered an outstanding result and with support from across the Battalion secured a gold medal. The Coy has also conducted joint training with our US partners on Ex HAWGER in Hawaii and represented the Rangers
Ex APOLLO SABRE and Ex GREY SHARD proved to
be great successes
On Ex HAWGER in Hawaii
at Defence Security Equipment International (DSEI) in London and
the Land Combat Power Visit (LCPV)
in Salisbury. We have also provided Observer Mentors to the Ranger Cadre and All Arms Ranger Course. With more exciting tasks developing over our next phase, as the Contingency Company, B Coy continues to go from strength to strength.
