C COMPANY
As we re-roled into 2nd Battalion, The Ranger Regiment, C Company began their first Operational
Cycle having completed the first iteration of Ex APOLLO SABRE. The invasion of Ukraine saw an immediate shift in responsibilities to assist other Battalions in delivering support to NATO partners, including deployments to Estonia. Simultaneously, training exercises in Kenya and the Ivory Coast allowed the newer members of the Company to cut their teeth in instructing partner forces and understanding their specific AO. These two lines of effort bled
into the Contingency Cycle, as a Team moved to North Yorkshire to deliver training to volunteers of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, whilst also returning to Kenya to complete the inaugural East Africa Patrols Course.
The training of the AFU was
a fantastic opportunity for the members of C Company, in particular the JNCOs who were able to take the lead in the production and delivery of the training package.
This task remains one of the most rewarding experiences many have had in their time both within the Ranger Regiment and wider military careers.
The East Africa Patrols Course was created to deliver an understanding of operating in the Kenyan theatre, combining conventional infantry activity with bespoke training more in line with the Ranger Regiment modus operandi. Whether a member of the PWRR old guard, or a first timer in Kenya, the experience of operating from a camel was eye opening for all.
The second year as The Ranger Regiment saw members earn their first Operational Service Medal delivering training to the Somali National Army as part of the long- standing task already in place there. More significantly, we continue
to see personnel from across the spectrum of British Army units joining the cohort, something which is vital for the future of the Regiment.

since re-roled, building an array
of qualifications from UAS and demolitions to bespoke medical training packages as well as two snipers spending a month in the USA receiving training alongside Green Beret counterparts. Moving into the latter stages of 2023, a return to Kenya is on the cards and the Company continues to develop new skills and capabilities for the future.
