South East Branch Dinner
Even with reduced numbers we still had 33 sitting down at a wonderful venue at the end of the pier. Although it was a little worrying as about 10 minutes before walking across to the pier, the heavens opened and we had a massive shower for about 10 mins. Luckily that was it and we walked over on a warm May evening.
Lt Col (SMAA) SAJ Davis RAPTC addressing the South East Branch Dinner
The dinner was very nice and the setting was perfect, we were even treated to a rework display from the bandstand area. As always the raf e proved to be popular with £120 being raised for the Branch
This year we had 2 serving members who were presented with their RAPTC
Association awards for 2015, WO2 (QMSI) Tony Richardson MBE who was presented with the Bredin Trophy for the Association member who has contributed the most to enhance the prestige of the Corps and WO2 (QMSI) Kev Haley who was presented with the Littlehales trophy for the association member who has contributed the most to enhance the prestige of the Corps through Sport. Both trophies were presented to the individuals by Lt Col (SMAA) Steve Davis in his very last of cial appointment as SMAA. The SE Branch wishes him well in his transition to the Army Sport Control Board and civilian life and hope to see him at next year’s dinner with his wife Sharon. Next year’s dinner will take place on Sat 13 May at a venue yet to be decided.
NORTH EAST BRANCH REPORT
Mr Ian Dean. – Chairman
It is with great pride and pleasure that I write this year’s notes, I wish to take you back to last year for just a moment, after last years Reunion at the Ambassador Hotel in Scarborough that
many of you know so well, the committee were informed that the owners were changing their style of operation which would not accommodate food or functions any more. That left us without a venue for 2016.
Warburton, Smith, Dean and our girls were thrown into searching for a new Hotel venue that very day whilst still preparing for the event that evening, (no mean feat).
We wanted to try and get somewhere to take us on so as to announce it at that evening’s AGM, we achieved this. The following day was spent with our new venues management team trying to get them to understand all of our requirements.
Fast forward,,,,,, April 2016, as I approached the Hotel from Falsgrave road and came down the hill and saw the Palm Court Hotel with an RAPTC ag ying from its roof tops, was something very special indeed, it sent shivers down my spine and made me feel very proud indeed.. What a weekend was to follow. We had our Golf Day on the Friday and 55 members joined us for an informal
Members of North East Branch laid a wreath in York on behalf of the Branch.
A special mention to the team that turned up and supported the Branch. Your support is very much appreciated.
A big thanks to the Chairman, Ian Dean, for organising the occasion.
