Maj Jayne’s last MBS article on 3UKXX mentions the fast tempo of a Division preparing for readiness. This really hit home when I was invited to Ex Tractable to host the visiting dignitaries. Ex Tractable (insert pic 4) is an exercise where the Division puts on display all its war ghting troops and equipment, totalling almost 2000 troops and 800 vehicles, 30 being Challenger 2 tanks. I thought the Iron Trophy was going to be dif cult to organise...
I am ably assisted by 1X (Soon to be SMI Harris), 12X (Soon to be SMI Haley), 20X (SMI Harrington) & 101LOG X (Bde Sgt Maj).
101LOGX have taken a compulsory reduction within their Bde to ll an FTRS PD Post later this year, I am pleased they will get the right level of support.
The timely arrival of WO1 Gaz Halliwell, who comes into the branch in June this year as WO1 Injury Prevention, will be very welcoming. Mr Halliwell will add enormous value in being the focal point in the Divisional for guidance and direction in reducing our MSKI gures.

FORCE TROOPS COMMAND (FTC)
Maj (MAA) C Deed RAPTC
“It is the coherent 2* command of scarce Army capabilities in ten specialist bri- gades that makes us greater than the sum of our parts.”
Force Troops Command (FTC) has swiftly established itself as a highly capable and adaptable organisation that is now recognised as the go-to,
one-stop shop for Command Support, Combat Support and Combat Service Support delivery advice. FTC has delivered operational success on Op GRITROCK (Sierra Leone), Op HERRICK (Afghanistan), Op ELGIN (Bosnia), Op MANSIO (Chad), Op MARMAT (Nepal), and Op SHADER (Iraq), to name a few, whilst concurrently supporting many UK counter-terrorism activities and other operations.
FTC is now the largest of the Army’s formations (over 41’000 personnel) which is bigger than the RAF. FTC has over a quarter of the Army’s regular liability and almost half of the Reserves, which equates to a third of the whole force. FTC is also taking huge steps to deliver greater training coherence within the Command and increasingly, it is looking at how the wider Army can be supported and bene t from its specialist training requirements.
Along with the SO2 and SMI role, HQ FTC has three other RAPTC posts: The Reserve, SO2 SPARTAN HIKE appointment is  lled by Maj (MAA) Rick Young;
currently the two FTRS positions at SO3 Reserves and WO1 Injury prevention and Health promotion are gapped. In addition and lling the G3 Ops WO appointment is WO2 (QMSI) Chanel Mason. This brings together a huge amount of PD knowledge and experience to support the Division, it also makes a round of Coffee very expensive.....
PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT
Having re ected on the past year it still surprises me to discover the efforts that people contribute to making PD work which has been such a welcome introduction to starting in a 2* HQ. This enthusiasm has contributed so much to the Force Development and preparation across FTC and has helped with initiating projects to develop and improve on capabilities for all personnel within the Firm Base or deployed regardless of their deployability status..
Deployed Physical Training Equipment (DPTE)
HQ FTC PD Branch has been driving the Force Development, Delivery and Sustainment of a DPTE capability in order to support
