Building a Database
4.3.1. General Asset Properties
Note:
Some asset properties are purely informational, while some are
critical to configuring the different monitoring technologies. If a
property is important for a specific monitoring technology, it will have
an information icon; hovering the mouse pointer over the icon will
display a tooltip that describes which monitoring technology the
property is needed for.
On the first page of the asset properties, you can enter generic asset properties:
• The asset name.
• A description of the asset.
• The asset class and type, which combine to define what it is; for example, a gas
turbine generator.
• The serial number
• The installation year
• The application; the first time you add an asset to a database this will be blank, and
there will not be any options to select. Type the application in the box, and then after
you add this asset to the database, that application will be available for any future
assets that are created.
• The manufacturer of the asset; this works the same as the application described
above.
• The cooling system installed on the asset. The correct cooling system is important
for setting the default Alert levels in PD monitoring.
