It also gave new meaning to the term “drive-by.”
Whereas previously, drive-by had a sad and deadly meaning.
A drive-by used to bring fear and horror, as unsuspecting
individuals are gunned down by cold-hearted shooters from
a moving vehicle.
Because of the coronavirus, drive-by now means
something far more enjoyable. People are now able to
practice social-distancing while celebrating the birthday,
anniversary, graduation or special event of a friend or loved
one. This is done by driving past the home of the honoree, in
a celebratory parade, honking horns and waving.
So, along with the N-95 facial mask, people have begun
wearing full-face, see-through shields to protect them from
coughs, sneezes, or intentional spitting.
A drone manufacturer claimed to have drones that could
detect the virus from forty feet in the air. That would greatly
assist medical professionals and first responders in testing
potential COVID victims while maintaining social distancing.
I don’t think anyone can deny that, after the coronavirus is
long behind us, necessitated technology has forced a change in
how we do things in the world today.
Video conferencing has brought the world into our
living rooms. Whereas, you used to have to wake up and
get dressed to go to work, many of you can now go into
the office without getting out of bed. School teachers are
teaching their classes from their home computers, and kids
are going to class from their laptops.
Salesmen and saleswomen, who hate face-to-face or
door-to-door sales, have discovered that they can now make
a pretty decent living in sales, without having to visit with
potential prospects. Not only is this a time-saver, but it is
also a lot safer.
